Toyota TPS
A Team Effort of Individual Responsibility
The Toyota Production System empowers every associate to optimize quality by constantly improving processes and eliminating unnecessary waste. On the manufacturing line, every associate has the power and the responsibility to stop the line if a flaw is detected. This limits the opportunity for flawed products to make it through the line and significantly cuts down re-work, thus eliminating unnecessary waste. The Toyota Production System influences every aspect of Toyota’s organization and includes a common set of values, knowledge and procedures. It entrusts employees with well-defined responsibilities in each production step and encourages every team member to strive for overall improvement.
