Speaker 1 (00:17):
Warehouses and distribution centers are some of the fastest-growing industries for material handling. As more warehouses and distribution plants begin operations, warehouse safety should take center stage. With proper training, a warehouse can be a very safe working environment, but there’s always the potential for things to go wrong. In fact, more than 95,000 forklift accidents happen each year. Unfortunately, just being careful isn’t enough to prevent injuries or accidents. It takes intentional planning to ensure warehouse safety. Ask yourself, what have I done to make my warehouse as safe as possible? Whether your answer is nothing or your answer is everything, take a moment to review these five tips for warehouse safety.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Number one, train your staff. A fully trained staff is key to the safety of your employees. Just training your forklift operators isn’t enough. Pedestrians need to be trained as well.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Number two, eliminate any potential trip or slip hazards. Many warehouse incidents happen because of falls. Make sure all walkways are clear for pedestrians.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Number three, know your forklift capacity and stick to it. Having a load that is too heavy for your forklift can cause damage and serious injury.

Number four, know the safety challenges for your particular warehouse. Is it hard to see in your warehouse? Is it too loud or are the aisles narrow? Know your safety challenges and take steps to overcome them.
